Did Yochanan Write the Sefer Yetzirah?

The Sefer Yetzirah is an ancient Hebrew document which among the earliest and most significant of Kabbalistic texts. No one knows who the author of the book was, several possibilities have been proposed. One possibility that has occurred to me is that Yochanan the Emissary and Talmid of Yeshua was the author. There are a number of parallels between the Sefer Yetzirah and the book of Revelation:

1. Both books make use of the “seven stars”. Rev. 1:16, 20 refer to “the seven stars” being in the hand of the “Son of Man”. The Sefer Yetzirah refers to Elohim forming “the seven stars” with seven letters known as “doubles” (SY 4:6).

2. Both books make use of the twelve constellations of the Zodiac. This is obviously the reference in Rev. 12:1f to the “crown of twelve stars” that are part of the “signs in the heavens” while SY 5:3-4 tell us that thru permutations of the twelve “elemental” Hebrew letters were used to form the “twelve constellations in the universe”.

3. The Sefer Yetzirah relates how Elohim, thru the letters of the 22 Hebrew letters formed the universe. The Book of Revelation emphasizes the Messiah as the “word” (Rev. 19:13) the beginning of the creation of Elohim (Rev. 3:14) and as the ALEF and the TAV (Rev. 1:8; 21:6), the first and last letters of the 22 (and often used as an abbreviation of the 22).

4. In Rev. 21:2 we read that the Tree of Life bears twelve kinds of fruit corresponding to the twelve months. SY 5:3 tells us that Elohim formed the twelve months of the year thru permutations of the twelve “elemental” Hebrew letters.

5. Rev. 12:1f appears to refer to the constellation of Draco the Dragon as one of the Signs in the Heavens and many commentators interpret the “TELI” referred to in the Hebrew of SY 6:1 to refer to Draco.

Of course Yochanan (John) has long been recognized as the “mystical” writer in the NT.
