The Tanak is under Attack
Shalom Chaverim,
HaSatan has been working hard to subtract from your Scriptures. He is actively trying to take the Tanak (Old Testament) out of the Bible. Go to a Christian bookstore and ask to see the Bibles, then ask to see the New Testaments in a volume alone. They will show you large selections. Then ask to see the “Old Testaments” in a volume alone… they will not have any. More and more, Christians are publishing and using only the New Testament, effectively taking the “Old Testament” out. The Church of Christ (Cambelite) has a slogan “The Old Testament for her history and learning but not for her doctrine and Law.” Yet 2Tim. 3:16 tells us that all Scripture is useful for doctrine and reproof (and the only Scripture they had in Paul’s day was the Tanak, as the NT was still being written.). First they limit the value of the Tanak, and then they remove it altogether.
In fact Christendom has succeeded in removing part of the Tanak already. By the fourth century they had removed the Book of Enoch (Though the Ethiopic Church retained it) and during the Middle Ages Protestants managed to remove thirteen books from the Tanak (though Catholics retained most of them). These thirteen books are known today as the Apocrypha, they are 1Ezra, 2Ezra, Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Wisdom of Yeshua Ben Sira, Baruch, Letter of Jeremiah, Prayer of Manasseh and the four books of the Maccabees. The Church of England says of these books: “the church doth read for example of life and instruction of manners; but yet doth not apply them to establish any doctrine.” (Church of England; Articles of Religion; Article VI). Thus Protestants moved them to an Appendix, and eventually, for the most part, removed them altogether. Go to a Christian bookstore today and just see how many, if any Protestant Bibles include this appendix at all. First they minimized their importance, and then they removed them.
They have already successfully removed part of the Tanak, and their ultimate goal is to effectively remove the rest of the Tanak from our Scriptures as well.
These books have great information for us in the last days.
1Ezra reveals to us that the knowledge that truth was mightier than all things led to the return to the Land and the building of the second Temple.
2Ezra is a book of prophecy relating seven visions to us and much last days revelation.
Tobit relates to us an example of Spiritual Warfare involving a righteous Ephraimite living in the exile.
Judith relates an account of a Maccabean heroine when Israel was attached by two adversaries who parallel the two beasts of Rev. 13.
The Wisdom of Solomon relates much wisdom to us, including the original revelation of the Full Armor of Elohim.
The Wisdom of Yeshua Ben Sira also relates much wisdom to us (far more than I can cover here).
Baruch gives a wonderful prophecy of a last days restoration (including a return to use of the Sacred Name) in the time shortly before the return of Messiah.
The Letter of Jeremiah warns us of the dangers of idolatry (more important than ever as we sound the call to come out from Babylon).
The Prayer of Manasseh gives us a sincere prayer of repentance from one turning back to YHWH in his last days.
And the four books of the Maccabees tell us of the events surrounding the Abomination of Desolation by Antiochus Epiphanies which parallels the last days events. These books have many important lessons to teach us, including vital information concerning the full aramor of Elohim.
These are important books for us in the last days, but sadly, modern translations of these books have been based on Greek and Latin versions rather than the original Hebrew and Aramaic, which has largely disappeared into obscurity or been lost altogether.
