Rabbi Gilner, whose native languages were Hebrew, Aramaic, English, and Spanish, received private instruction and apprenticeship from Rabbi Emanuel H. Baron, Brooklyn, New York; completed Talmudic Studies at Yeshiva University, New York, NY and received a degree in Political Science and International Relations from Columbia University, New York, NY.
